The Young Writers' Competition Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27th at the Preston High School Theater. The ceremony for elementary & middle school participants is set to begin at 6 PM, and the high school ceremony is set to proceed at 7 PM. Participants in the ceremony will need to enter the high school through the fine arts entrance on the side of the building or at the back of the Concourse due to ongoing construction at the front entryway. Any participant wanting to purchase and anthology book will need to make checks payable to the WV Reading Association. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

TAEP: Just a reminder that tomorrow evening will be an informational session about the upcoming vote for the excess school levy. This informational session is open to the public and will take place in the TAEP cafeteria beginning at 7:00. Again, this is tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27th. The levy committee will meet in the library at 6:00 with the informational session beginning live both in-person and via Facebook at 7:00. All are encouraged to attend and ask questions. Superintendent Brad Martin, a representative from our maintenance department, and Mr. Justin Hough, principal, will all be on-hand to answer questions. The session will be moderated by Cross Kisner, board of education representative and levy committee member.

The Preston County Beekeepers Association each year awards a youth scholar with the needed supplies to get started in beekeeping. This includes the physical hive, a nuc of bees, bee suit, etc. The association also has a member who serves as the mentor for a year to work with the student to teach them how to care for bees. The opportunity is open to youth in Preston County between the ages of 12 and 16. The recipient is selected from the application process and chosen by the association members. The selection committee will meet in April. All applications are due to the Preston County Extension Office at 115 W Court Street, Kingwood, WV 26537, by April 15, 2024. Late applications will NOT be accepted.

This Friday is the 2nd Annual Shamrock Shake dance for Elementary students in grades preK through 5th grade at Terra Alta/East Preston School. The dance will be from 6:00-8:00 pm. This dance is a fundraiser for 4th & 5th grades. The cost is $5 per person which includes admission and a tattoo. Concessions will also be available for purchase. Any Pre-K or Kindergarten student attending MUST be accompanied by an adult (not an older sibling). We hope to see lots of students on Friday, March 15 at the Shamrock Shake from 6-8 pm at the TAEP School!
