There will be a class for those interested in becoming a substitute teacher on Monday, November 4th at 9:00 AM in the Preston County BOE Boardroom. An Associates or a Bachelors Degree is required for the license. Music Programs at both South Preston and Terra Alta East Preston were recipients this year of the VH1 Save the Music Foundation Grant. This grant will help to support both schools in their music education efforts by providing musical instruments to those students in need, thus growing our bands and giving a student the ability to be in the band, who might not have been able to acquire an instrument otherwise. To date, all schools in Preston County with middle school bands have been recipients of this grant. Preston County Schools would like to thank VH1, Conn Selmer and WV Cabinet Secretary, Department of Arts, Culture and History , Randall Reid-Smith. Today was another day to be Preston Proud.

The week of October 28th is Red Ribbon Week at TAEP. Monday is pajama day, Tuesday is twin day, Wednesday is hat day, Thursday is favorite character day, and Friday is college colors day. Students and staff are encouraged to participate in showing support for red ribbon week.

Good evening Eagle families. We have a lot happening at East this week. Today permission slips for Thursday's PBIS Rewards Day came home with students. Please complete those and return them no later than Wednesday, 10/23. Also on Wednesday the 23rd, Lifetouch will be here for student portraits, grades 5 - 8 will have presentation on the hazards of vaping, boys basketball will hold flex practice from 2:30 - 4:30 pm, and volleyball will host Bruceton Bulldogs for our final in season home game at 6 pm. On Thursday 10/24 East will hold quarter 1 PBIS Rewards Day and girls basketball flex practice will be held from 6 - 8 pm. On Friday 10/25 there will be no school for students as it is a staff development day. Also on Friday there will be girls basketball flex practice from 6 - 8 pm. Our PTO Bingo event is Friday 10/25 with doors opening at 5:30 pm and the event held from 6 - 8 pm (information about the Bingo event is posted on our Facebook page and our school website). Again, a reminder that PBIS rewards day permission slips came home today and MUST be turned in by Wednesday for students to participate. Have a great week and let's go Eagles!

November's Breakfast and Lunch Menus
There is a new item in November for lunch which resembles the McRib Sandwich, as well as trying out boneless wings with a variety of sauces for our students to try to see which dipping sauces they like. We will also be trying out a breakfast burrito. Feedback from the survey was appreciated and taken into account, and from December on, all menus will be based on a majority of the surveys favorites, and removal of those items a majority didn't like or wants less of. Don't let time be an excuse to not take care of you. We're only at our best, because you're at your best. From November through February (4 Months), Staff is invited to participate in a wellness challenge. You can do this for personal benefit, pride, or county bragging rights. At the end of each month, certify yourself at the link provided on that month’s calendar (posted on Facebook). 6 winners will be chosen each month to receive a “Preston Strong” hat, courtesy of Affordable Signs Unlimited. Those 24 winners will also be placed into a drawing in March for a grand prize (TBD, but a goodie). The county will also keep track of school submissions and will post our "Top Schools" each month.

Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child's life, and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom. We have selected fan favorites to highlight the week, as well as focusing on a "farm to table" day on Wednesday, featuring WV pork and fruits. And as always in Preston County Schools, all students eat for FREE.
Good evening Eagles. This week at East Preston we will have a book fair. Students will be able to shop during school. Parents may send in money or sign up for the e wallet (the info was sent home previously).
Parents of students in grades 3 - 8 can access their students grades and communicate with teachers in Schoology. If you need help establishing your Schoology parent account please call the school or email your student's teacher. We are happy to help.

This week's middle school suicide prevention presentation is postponed, but will be rescheduled and information provided.
East Preston School will host the Board of Education Meeting tomorrow, Monday, October 14th, at 6 pm in the school library. The meeting is open to the public, but anyone interested in speaking must sign up prior to the start of the meeting and will be given limited time. The PreK and kindergarten field trip is this week on Thursday. Please contact your students teacher with any questions.
Later this month East will host a Bingo Night fundraiser. Information will be posted later this week, but save the date for Friday, October 25th, from 6 - 8 pm.
Students will also receive information this week about a Hurricane Relief Drive organized by fifth grade. The students are seeking non-perishable items including cold weather clothing (new and gently used) and hygiene products.
And finally, tomorrow we will announce our students of the month for September who demonstrated the character trait organized. The students will be posted on our social media and website and will receive a prize.
For the month of October we will be on the lookout for students who demonstrate courage.
Tomorrow, Monday, October 14th at 6 pm the Lady Eagles Volleyball team will take on the Central Preston Wildcats.

Good afternoon. Terra Alta East Preston School is without water at this time. However, the county is bringing us jugs of water to flush toilets, and we have bottled water if students need a drink. We've decided it is too close to the end of our day to dismiss, and we do not want to place extra burden on parents with an early dismissal. Therefore, we will finish our school day today as scheduled. We just want to make families aware that we are without water, but we do have plans in place. Thank you.
