PCS Easter/Spring Break - Just a reminder that an extended weekend for Easter Break begins tomorrow, Friday, April 3rd, with students and staff returning on Wednesday, April 8th. Happy Easter Preston County!

Last night, the Preston County Reading Council presented multiple students from across the county and grade-levels with the Literary Award, in honor of Mary Agnes Borgman. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category were also recognized. Some additional excitement this year came during the First and Second Grade Prose Category, as County Winner, 1st Grader and KES Student, Dylan Lipscomb, was also recognized as coming in 2nd place in the State-Level Competition. PCS is proud of this outstanding accomplishment from Dylan, as well as all of our school participants and winners at the county level. Writing is such an important and foundational skill for our students, and we couldn't be more proud of each of these who have gone above and beyond. Keep being creative kids.

Today we celebrate the incredible paraprofessionals of Kingwood Elementary School on National Paraprofessional Day!
Our paraprofessionals are an essential part of the KES family. From supporting instruction and guiding transitions to providing individualized, one-on-one assistance, they play a vital role in the success of our students each and every day.
Their dedication helps maintain a positive, structured environment where all students are encouraged and empowered to be their very best. We are so grateful for the care, patience, and commitment they bring to our school community.
Thank you for all that you do—you truly make a difference!

No fooling around today, at least when it comes to recognizing our Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday of April. Today and everyday, we honor paraprofessional educators, who may also be known as paras, instructional assistants, or teacher aides. Paraprofessionals perform a variety of teaching-related jobs and often assist teachers in classrooms.
Paras may work with students on supplemental enrichment activities, either in small groups or one-on-one. They may also help students complete assignments or practice reading. Paraprofessionals often work with students with special education needs and a variety of disabilities. They may also supervise students outside of classrooms and help teachers with clerical work.
Paraprofessionals work tirelessly each day to support students & teachers, so today we honor them for their service.
