Due to the abrupt change in schedule, but oh so thankful for our awesome cooks, there will be menu changes for this week due to our distribution and delivery schedules. Tomorrow, the 18th, will still be Pizza, and cooks will be providing the menus for principals to put out for 2 of the other days, with one other day this week being the scheduled boneless wings. Please see your school's individual Facebook pages or texts for more information. Tomorrow is Pizza though. Welcome back kiddos!!!

Preston County Schools had another great staff opening session on Wednesday the 13th. No matter the challenges and obstacles, our staff are prepared to welcome back our students and give them our best each and every day. We'd like to thank our sponsors, because without them, we wouldn't be able to put on such a successful event and training. A special thank you to Karen Cagle, our guest speaker from the Center for Model Schools, Instruction and Leadership. Karen has been, and always will be a big part of our PCS family, and it's through the work with her and her group that has continued to move PCS forward and do what we do for our kids day in and out. We may be biased, but we have the best and most dedicated staff, and we hope that you see in PCS what we strive for each and every day. Thanks again to our sponsors, our incredible staff, and let's get this thing started.

KES Families: We will be keeping the date of Monday, August 18th, for Meet the Teacher Night. We are looking forward to seeing everyone between 3:30 and 5:30PM! This will allow our teachers to complete preparations for their classrooms and activities for all 1st through 4th graders on Monday and our littlest of the littles, PreK and K, to have the opportunity to visit before they begin on Wednesday, August 20th. In the meantime, if we can be of assistance with resources or answer additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school: 304-329-1034!

Preston County Schools is excited to welcome back students next week. However, we will not be able to use our planned staggered start based on advisement from the WV Department of Education. All grade 1-12 students will now be required to attend on Monday, August 18th. All Kindergarten and Pre-K students will now be required to attend on Wednesday, August 20th. There will be no scheduled school for students on Friday, August 22nd for professional development. We greatly apologize for the required change in schedule; however, all available efforts were made to maintain the staggered start schedule without success. Questions and concerns may be forwarded to Superintendent Brad Martin at (304) 329-0580 ext. 3225.

Final Reminder - Pre-K, K, 7th grade, 12th Grade students are REQUIRED to have the listed vaccinations before they can start school. Without proper documentation, then a student cannot attend until the shots are completed and records are at the school. There is no grace period. We don't want to see your student unnecessarily miss school days. Please contact one of our nurses for assistance, return their voicemails, or contact the health department with any questions.

Reminder of vaccine requirements for PCS Students (PK, new enrollments and 7th and 12th grades) - Immunizations are a requirement by state code for student enrollment in WV Public Schools.

During the June meeting of the West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE), members voted unanimously to comply with state law regarding required school immunizations as it is written in W. Va. Code §16-3-4.

The WVBE directed the State Superintendent of Schools to notify all school districts to follow the law that has been in effect since 1937. This is in line with the actions of the West Virginia Legislature during the 2025 Regular Session which did not vote in favor of religious exemptions for vaccines.

KES Families: Homeroom lists are now posted on the windows next to our temporary office entryway! Incoming PreK students and anyone else who may have missed the last day of school and did not receive their 25-26 class assignments may stop by and take a look! Remember, our main office is temporarily located between the Price Street Building and Multi-purpose Room.

Homeroom lists are now posted on the windows next to our temporary office entryway!
Long awaited building safety and security updates have begun on the campus of Kingwood Elementary School! We have temporarily relocated our main office and will also need to make some minor adjustments to our morning drop-off procedures. The secretary will temporarily be located at the doorway in between Price Street and the Multi-purpose Room. All busses and other morning drop-offs that normally happen at the main entrance will need to occur at the front of the Multi-purpose Room. The overall procedure for afternoon parent pick-up will remain the same, making minor adjustments to line-up at the Multi-purpose Room as needed. Due to limited space in our parking lots, it will be critical for all families to adhere to our bus only policy in the main parking lot from 7:15AM to 7:30AM and 1:45PM to 2:40PM. Please refer to the attached diagrams for guidance and stay tuned for updates! You may contact the school at 304-329-1034 with any questions or concerns. We look forward to another year of working with your children and appreciate your patience as we enhance the safety of all who enter our campus!
