Read Across America Week is celebrated from March 2nd to 6th — it begins on the birthday of the beloved author, Dr. Seuss, who many schools are celebrating with a spirited dress-up week. The entire month of March, in fact, is dedicated to reading. This week, we'll be featuring a different PHS student doing a daily read aloud that our schools can share and watch with their students. First up is IsaBella Miller, a member of the Preston High School's Lady Knight's Basketball Team and journalist-to- be. She chose to read the book titled, My Tooth is Loose. Fourth grade students were able to partake in hands-on labs dealing with energy and electricity last week during a visit from former PCS science teacher and current BOE member Jeff Zigray.

These Kingwood Elementary students have been recognized for demonstrating outstanding character during the month of February! Miss Kylie’s Gatorade Students of the Month have consistently exhibited strong leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship during wellness class! Meanwhile, other students in kindergarten through fourth grade have shown empathy towards others and have been awarded PurposeFULL People awards. Congratulations on being socially successful!

Read Across America Week: March 3-7, 2025! Celebrate the works of Dr. Seuss with us each day! Monday: Nobody Wants to Get Up Today (Wear your favorite PJs to school); Tuesday: If I Ran the Zoo Day (Wear animal print); Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday (Wear your craziest, wackiest outfit); Thursday: Favorite Seuss Character Day (Dress as your favorite Dr. Seuss character); Friday: The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That Day (Wear your favorite hat to school).
Save the Date for Dr. Seuss Family Night at KES: Thursday, March 6th, from 4:30-6:30PM! Literacy and STEAM activities as well as games and prizes galore; you just never know what we’ll have in store!
KES PTA will host its first BINGO event this Friday, February 28th, at the Kingwood Community Building! There’s still time to get tickets, which you must have in-hand to enter! These fourth graders represented Kingwood Elementary at the Preston County Social Studies Fair today at the Kingwood Community Building. You have made us extremely proud, and we are anxiously awaiting for the results to be announced at tonight's awards ceremony!
