Hi, I’m Hailey Nestor! I’m a proud Bruceton alum, and it feels so special to be back where it all began. I graduated from West Virginia University with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and I’m so excited to bring my energy, care, and Bulldog pride to our school! When I’m not here, you can usually find me curled up with a good book, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, or off exploring somewhere new. I also share my home with three spoiled (and very handsome!) boy cats who keep life interesting.

With the cancellation of staggered start, the original 6th Grade Academy that was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 19th is cancelled. We're going to do a full orientation for 6th graders Monday morning and a brief orientation for parents at tonight's Back to School Bash at 6pm in the cafeteria.

Tonight during Back to School Bash, there will be a brief meeting for 6th grade parents and students at 6pm in the cafeteria to orient students to middle school due to the elimination of the staggered start. There will be an additional orientation with just 6th graders Monday morning too. 6th Grade Academy that was originally scheduled on Tuesday evening is cancelled.

Preston County Schools is excited to welcome back students next week. However, we will not be able to use our planned staggered start based on advisement from the WV Department of Education. All grade 1-12 students will now be required to attend on Monday, August 18th. All Kindergarten and Pre-K students will now be required to attend on Wednesday, August 20th. There will be no scheduled school for students on Friday, August 22nd for professional development. We greatly apologize for the required change in schedule; however, all available efforts were made to maintain the staggered start schedule without success. Join us for our Back to School Bash tomorrow night from 5:00-7:00pm. You can meet teachers, check out classrooms, and enjoy games and activities. The 8th grade will also have a cash-only concession stand available too. 7th and 8th graders can get their class schedules as well.

Hello! My name is Jessica Ulbrich, and I am so thankful to be joining the Bruceton Bulldog family! Everyone at Bruceton was incredibly welcoming to me during my time as a substitute so I was happy to accept a full time offer.
A little about me-
I have lived in Bruceton for about five years with my husband and our two children. I love to cook, go camping, go kayaking, and spend time with our extended family.
I look forward to meeting new faces and reuniting with familiar ones around the school. Hopefully this will be a great year— lots of learning and fun memories for all!

Hello my name is Kayla Huggins and I am excited to be a part of Bruceton School this year. I was born and raised in Preston County. I currently reside in Kingwood with my daughter who’s a sophomore at Preston High. I worked at PHS for the last 4 years and currently I am the Lady Knights JV volleyball coach. When I’m not at volleyball, you can find me spending time with my daughter and my family, enjoying a good book, being outside specifically mowing grass or organizing something! I am looking forward to being part of a new school!

My name is Nicole Swiger. This is my tenth year in Preston County Schools, and I’m excited to be teaching 5th grade at Bruceton this year. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education and my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Fairmont State University. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy watching football, hiking, and spending time with my husband, Josh, our son, Eli, and our crazy dog, Max. Fun fact: Eli is also starting 5th grade this year!

Final Reminder - Pre-K, K, 7th grade, 12th Grade students are REQUIRED to have the listed vaccinations before they can start school. Without proper documentation, then a student cannot attend until the shots are completed and records are at the school. There is no grace period. We don't want to see your student unnecessarily miss school days. Please contact one of our nurses for assistance, return their voicemails, or contact the health department with any questions.
Reminder of vaccine requirements for PCS Students (PK, new enrollments and 7th and 12th grades) - Immunizations are a requirement by state code for student enrollment in WV Public Schools.
During the June meeting of the West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE), members voted unanimously to comply with state law regarding required school immunizations as it is written in W. Va. Code §16-3-4.
The WVBE directed the State Superintendent of Schools to notify all school districts to follow the law that has been in effect since 1937. This is in line with the actions of the West Virginia Legislature during the 2025 Regular Session which did not vote in favor of religious exemptions for vaccines.

I’m Maegan Curran! I’m from a small town in Hardy County—Moorefield, WV. I graduated from Moorefield High School in 2016, and attended Eastern WV Community and Technical College and West Virginia University where I’ve obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I’ve worked at Place of Grace Early Learning Center since 2021 where I’ve been a lead teacher in three different classrooms; infants, toddlers, and pre-k. Outside of the classroom, I can be found lounging around with my dogs and spending time with family and friends. I’m more than excited to begin my next chapter at Bruceton Elementary!

Hello! My name is Kelsey Walsh, and I’m so excited to be joining the fourth grade team at Bruceton School! I’m originally from Augusta, Georgia, where I spent many years working in early childhood education. I moved to Morgantown, West Virginia, about four years ago and decided to pursue my bachelor’s degree in elementary education at WVU. I graduated in May and am now continuing my journey with a master’s in literacy education.
Teaching and learning are my biggest passions, but I also love gardening, reading, the arts, and hanging out with my friends and family. I’m so excited to get to know everyone in the school and community, and I can’t wait to help grow your students’ love for learning!
