Next month begins statewide testing across WV, beginning with our 11th Graders on SAT School Day on the 14th, then our students who take the Alternative State Assessment (WVASA or DLM), with that window opening on April 13th. Attached are letters from Superintendent of WV Schools, Michelle Blatt, on each of those tests outlined:
West Virginia General Summative Assessment for Grades 3-8
West Virginia Alternate Summative Assessment (DLM) for Grades 3-8 and 11
West Virginia SAT School Day for Grade 11

Boys Highlights:
• Tyler Parks: 2nd in the 800m with a SCHOOL RECORD of 2:20! Also placed 7th in the 400m and High Jump. 🏃‍♂️🥈
• Noah Belanger: 1st in the 200m and 2nd in the 100m — keep that speed up! 🥇🥈
• Boys 4x100m Relay: 5th place — Shawn Lyons, Landon Robinson, Enzo Richards, and Noah Belanger gave a great effort. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️
• Eli Parker: 6th in the 1600m with a nice personal best. 🎯
• Silas Ringer: 15th in Boys Discus. 💪

Girls highlights:
• Kelsey Jenkins: 7th in the 100m Hurdles; Mila Pedicord 10th. 🏃‍♀️
• Kylie Frankhouser: 8th in Discus and 11th in Shot Put. 🥏
• Brooke Smith: 14th in the 800m with a personal best and 13th in the 1600m. 🌟
• Grace Losh: 16th in the 800m with a personal best right behind Brooke. 👏

The team is back in action Monday, April 6 for Preston Meet #2.

Archer T collected three hits in four at bats, as Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball defeated West Greene Middle School 12-9 on Monday. Archer T singled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball came back to win despite trailing 5-0 in the third. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Archer T singled, scoring two runs, Colton S doubled, scoring two runs, and Kayvin R doubled, scoring one run. In the bottom of the fourth, Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball broke up the tie when Archer T singled, scoring one run. Then a single by Colton S followed to extend the lead to 8-5. Carter Foreman started on the bump for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and one earned over four innings, striking out four and walking four. Kayvin Rodeheaver went 2.2 IP in relief with five strikeouts. Colton shisler came in to pitch in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs and struck out the batter to win the game. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball amassed 13 hits in the game. Colton S went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Kayvin R and Landon H each collected multiple hits for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. Candin W paced Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball with three walks. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball play at home on Tuesday against Laurel Highlands in their next game. #SchoolOfChampions #GoodThingsHappenHere

Congratulations to our middle school Bulldog Elite students for the 3rd 9 week grading period. These students earned a 3.8 or higher for the grading term.

Congratulations to our Bulldog 7th and 8th grade band! They earned a superior rating at Region 10 Band Festival today! The band had to play two songs in front of a panel of judges comprised of collegiate music professors.

Preston County Schools was well-represented at the WV Region VII Math Field Day on Saturday. Not only did our students represent themselves, their schools, and the county, but they did so in some big ways. Congratulations to these students, their dedicated teachers, and our Math Field Day Coordinators.

Congratulations to the following:
Fifth Grade: Third Place went to Grady Walsh from Terra Ata East Preston. He will move on to the WV State Math Field Day.
Fifth Grade: Second Alternate went to Owen Moody from Bruceton School.

Region VII First Place Team - Division B went to Preston High School. The team consisted of James Harsh, Nick Bernatowicz, Bryson McNew, Cooper Thaler, Garrett Haymond, Donald Parks, Abigail McCoy, Isabella Edmunds, Katelyn Snider and Adam Davis.

One Week Away. Next Saturday is the Annual FFA Ham, Bacon and Egg Sale. We're not yolking, or hamming around. We're bacon you. You don't want to miss this.

The next volunteer/chaperone training class will be held Monday, March 23rd at 5:00pm in the library. You'll need to bring a check for $5 made out to the Preston County Sheriff's Department. All other forms and paperwork will be provided at the training. Volunteer/chaperone training and background checks are mandated by the Preston County Board of Education for anyone wishing to chaperone a field trip or volunteer.
