Dear Third Grade Parents and Guardians,
Due to increased enrollment in third grade, the Preston County Board of Education central office has made the decision to add an additional 3rd grade classroom and teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This will help to reduce class sizes across the grade level and continue to ensure that classes remain well under the mandatory state enrollment cap per third grade classroom, giving students more personalized attention.
At the school level, we began making contingency plans last school year for this potential scenario. Last year the students’ teachers worked with me and Mrs. Martin to create draft class lists for three third grade classrooms in addition to class lists for two third grade classrooms. A great deal of intentional thought and effort was put into class list creation including examining student academic strengths and challenges, student and teacher styles and personality, student gender ratio, student behaviors, as well as many other factors.
We have removed the existing 3rd grade class lists from parent view and will post updated 3rd grade class lists on the door by the main office by the end of the day on Thursday, August 20th. This will allow us to make all necessary student scheduling changes in WVEIS. We wish you and your children a wonderful 2026-2027 school year and we thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate these last-minute changes to the start of the school year.
Thank You,
Jonas Knotts
Principal

I just wanted to thank Bruceton School and the Bruceton Community for 28 awesome years. I was the one that was blessed! After 4 years at Central, that I'm very thankful for, and being riffed, I received a phone call in August of 1998 asking if I wanted the middle school math position at Bruceton. After driving from Etam to Bruceton that first day, I thought no way am I driving that far every day. I was actually hooked from day one. The school and community accepted me from the start. The staff and administration took me under their wings, as you might say, guided me, gave me advice, and let me do my thing. The students, from day one, were top notch. That first year toughened me up, but I knew the kiddos were my top priority. Always were! For many years, I told the students that we had three goals. Become an outstanding person, become an outstanding student, and improve math skills. As far as I'm concerned, we never failed. Passed above and beyond. To every student I have ever had, thank you and I love you all. It was AWESOME! By the way...you did learn some math along the way! Thank you to the parents and guardians for giving me great, young people to work with and your support. Thank you to all the staff and administrators. Never wanted to be anywhere else. To the current staff...I hope you have the best year ever! Everyone take care, eat a pickle, and laugh each day. I'll be around every now and then.
Thanks again and God bless you all.
Jared Brewer
