Today, we recognize and celebrate National Speech-Language Pathologist Day and extend our sincere appreciation to the dedicated SLPs who support students across PCS.

Speech-Language Pathologists play a vital role in helping students develop the communication skills they need to succeed—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Through assessment, targeted intervention, and collaboration with families and school teams, SLPs support students in building skills in speech, language, literacy, social communication, and more.

Just a reminder that this Friday, May 15th, will be a 2 Hour Early Dismissal for PCS Students so that staff may begin work on closing out the year, professional development, and strategic planning.

2 Hour Early Dismissal
Tomorrow, students in grades 3-8 will take the English/language arts component of the West Virginia General Summative Assessment. It's important for students to be on time to school as state testing rules do not allow late students to begin testing once testing has begun. Please make sure that your child eats breakfast and gets a good night's sleep. Students also need to make sure their laptops are fully charged. While we want our students to do their best on the test, we understand that this test is just one snapshot in time of their abilities.

State Testing has been underway across Preston County, and the results are already coming in. If your student has taken their Math or Science Assessment (Grades 5 and 8 Only), then his/her results are available upon test completion. ELA could take up to 10 days, as some of the writing portion has to be hand-scored at the state level. At the end of this week, your student will be bringing home a letter with instructions to login to the testing portal results, as we no longer send paper copies home.

You will no longer be receiving a paper copy of your student’s state testing results. Those are now available online at the following website:

https://wv.portal.cambiumast.com/families.html

Once at the site, you will need to provide your student’s first name, date of birth, and 6-digit access code (provided above). Once you type in the information and hit sign-in, it will walk you through the rest. If you are having any issues or have any questions, please contact Justin Hough, Director of Child Nutrition, Communications and Testing at jhough@k12.wv.us, or 304-329-0580 x3234 between 7:30-3:30.

Sign-ups close on May 15th.
