At last night's Preston County Board of Education meeting, the district shared some state data from last year's General Summative Assessment that compared each school in Preston County to their peer schools statewide. We were happy to find out that Bruceton School ranked 4th of it's 43 peer schools statewide in math and 15th of it's 43 peer schools statewide in ELA. We're proud of all the hard work of our kiddos and teachers and there's always more room to grow for next year!

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday the 16th, is a 2 Hour Early Dismissal for Students while staff participates in Data Team Meetings. Data-driven instruction is essential to the success of our students and teachers. Our schools' goals are to improve year after year, and much of that improvement comes from data-driven decision-making and instruction.

We were excited to see one of our former students today, Shirleymae Blosser! She's at PHS now and worked on a service learning project to provide school supplies to our pre-k and kindergarten classrooms. Today, Shirleymae stopped by to donate the supplies she collected to some of our teachers!

Today, Patriot Day 2026, marks the 25 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember September 11, 2001 — the day that changed our nation forever.

Many of us woke that morning and began an ordinary day by getting ready for work, heading to school, making plans, and going about our daily lives. Little did any of us know that before the day was over, our country and our understanding of the world would be changed forever.

Today, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of the first responders and ordinary people who stepped forward in extraordinary ways.

May we never forget. May we always remember. And may we continue to rise from the ashes with strength, compassion, courage, and unity.

25 years later — We Remember.
