Bruceton School

Tomorrow the 28th, Superintendent Martin, Asst. Superintendent Varner, and other members of the PCS Central Office Staff and Board will be travelling the county to recognize the overall county winners for Teacher, Service Personnel, Guidance Counselor, Coach, and Principal of the Year for 2026. Please join us in congratulating all of our school-level nominees and winners for Teacher, Coach, Guidance and Service. Tomorrow's recognitions will be streamed live at each school.

2 Bus Announcements for Friday, April 24th:

Bus 65-15, Jason Cramer's bus (now 33-22), will be utilizing the 'B' run for the afternoon run today. That means that students will be dropped off approximately 45-60 minutes late by bus 80-17. If you wish to pick up your student in the parent pick-up line, please notify the school at 304-379-2593 if you have not already sent a note.

Bus 29-22, Brett Slagle's bus will not run in the afternoon today. Students who normally ride that bus will ride bus 50-25, Bill Knotts' bus, and will arrive home approximately 30 minutes late. If you wish to pick up your student in the parent pick-up line, please notify the school at 304-379-2593 if you have not already sent a note.

That means that students will be picked up and dropped off approximately 45-60 minutes late. This week is nationally recognized as Volunteer Week, and PCS has some of the very best in our schools and school support organizations. We want to thank these volunteers for their selflessness, compassion, service, and impact throughout our schools and communities.

Today is National Administrative Professionals Day, but not just today, but everyday across PCS, we want to celebrate those people that keep things operational and running smoothly, our secretaries, assistants, and office staff. The last volunteer/chaperone training class of the school year will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, April 22nd at 5:00pm in the library. You'll need to bring a check for $5 made out to the Preston County Sheriff's Department. All other forms and paperwork will be provided at the training. Volunteer/chaperone training and background checks are mandated by the Preston County Board of Education for anyone wishing to chaperone a field trip or volunteer. This will be the last volunteer/chaperone training provided this school year.

The start time for tonight's baseball game has been changed to 6:30. It will still be at Dale Miller Field at Mylan Park.

Tonight's middle school baseball game location has been changed to Dale Miller Field at Mylan Park. The game will still begin at 6:00pm.

Just a reminder that Parents are invited to join members of the BOE and County Office Staff for our annual parent advisory meeting and work session tomorrow, Monday, April 20th at 5:00PM at the Preston County Board of Education Offices. During this time, you'll be able to share your ideas on how we can better serve you as a parent and our students through our Title 1 Programs and District Goals. This will also be an opportunity to share thoughts on the new, state-mandated, retention policy that will go into effect next school year.

Save the Date: The final chaperone and volunteer training for Bruceton School for this school year will be Wednesday, April 22nd at 5:00 in the cafeteria. Parents and adults must be board of education-approved to chaperone or volunteer. More details will follow as we get closer to the training date.

Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball Earn Walk-Off Win Over Tygarts Valley Bulldogs It came down to the wire on Wednesday, as Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 10-9, over Tygarts Valley Bulldogs. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball were down 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Landon H singled, scoring two runs. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the seventh, scoring six runs on two hits to take the lead, 10-9. The biggest blow in the inning was a ground out by Sam M that drove in two. Kayvin R earned the win for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning. Jacob D, Kayvin R, Sam M, Landon H, and Colton S each collected one hit for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. Henry H and Landon H each drove in two runs for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. The 2026-2027 Proposed Calendar is currently available for public comment. Public Comments on the calendar can be submitted to Superintendent Martin at brrmarti@k12.wv.us. Comments will be received through Friday, April 24th, with the final hearing and vote on the calendar scheduled for the Monday, April 27th Board Meeting.
