Bruceton School

The school social studies fair and judging will take place first thing tomorrow morning. The social studies fair project viewing open house will take place tomorrow evening from 4-6pm.

Due to today's snow day, tonight's parent/teacher conferences are canceled. We will announce a new date as soon as possible.

It appears we're currently having and will continue to have the Preston County Winter we've all become accustomed to, but haven't seen in the past few years. The state allocates us, based off additional learning time in our buildings each day, 5 traditional snow days, where students and staff under 240 day contracts do not report, and allows 5 non-traditional learning days (Brain Freeze) where students work from home and staff reports. If we exhaust all these days, make-up days, either via from Spring Break, or at the end of the school year, will need to be used to meet the state requirements. If we go over those allocated days, the calendar will be adjusted and you will be informed of the dates of those make-up days.

Preston County Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay for tomorrow, Thursday, January 22nd. Maintenance, mechanics, and custodians report on a regular schedule, and all other students and staff will report on a 2 hour delay.

Parent/teacher conferences are tomorrow (Thursday) from 4:00-6:00. Student support services will have gently used jeans, new and gently used coats, and backpacks for giveaway.

Today is the 50th PCS Math Field Day. Students from across the county showed up and showed off their math knowledge and skills. Preston County Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 20th & it will be a “Brain Freeze” Day. Students do not report. Maintenance, mechanics, & custodians report on a regular schedule, & all other staff reports on a 2-hour delay.. All schools will be open from 10 AM- 12 PM for students who need help & lunches will be served from 11AM -12 PM.. Extracurricular activities may proceed, but Math Field Day will be moved to Wednesday.

Just a reminder that there is No School and BOE Offices will be closed on Monday, January 19th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students will return to school on Tuesday the 20th, with some returning to participate in Math Field Day.

Middle school had the opportunity to go ice skating for their quarterly BARK Card behavior and attendance incentive today.

WVU's Chapter of Society of Women Engineers invites all elementary school girls, K-5, for a day of STEM-focused education and fun on Saturday, February 28th. Bruceton Bus Announcement- Bus 80-17, Dawn Stemple, will not run today for Bruceton and PHS students.

PK/K Registration - Tomorrow's scheduled PK/K registration will continue as planned at all schools from 10A-2P.

With tomorrow's 2 hour delay, Bruceton middle school students who qualified will still be going on the BARK Card behavior and attendance reward incentive trip. The trip will now depart at 9:30 from the school, after students have arrived, and arrive back to the school before regular dismissal.
