Due to a major water line break in Terra Alta, Terra Alta / East Preston School will be dismissing at 10:30 AM. Parents who plan to pick up students may begin to pick them up at 10:45 AM with pick up taking place in the front parking area with traffic flow similar to morning drop off. Any student 3rd grade and below who does not have someone to receive them at their bus drop off will be returned to the school until someone can come and pick them up at the school. Terra Alta Area students at Preston High School will remain in school as normally scheduled.

Golden Horseshoe Winners:

Preston County Schools and the West Virginia Department of Education is honored to announce the 2025 Golden Horseshoe winners for Preston County. Since 1931, students have been honored as Knights of the Golden Horseshoe having demonstrated exceptional knowledge of West Virginia History on the state administered exam. This year, 223 winners will join the ranks of WV citizens who have won this prestigious award. Preston's 4 winners will have an opportunity to be recognized at the Golden Horseshoe ceremony on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston, WV. At approx. 4:03 PM on Monday, April 28th, 2025, County Clerk (Linda Huggins) swore in newly appointed Board Member (Mrs. Beth Noss), who is filling the vacancy created by the resignation of former Board Member Mrs. Shelley Miller.
