Preston County Schools will be closed for today, Thursday, December 5th & it’s a “Brain Freeze” day. Students do not report, but teachers & most staff will be reporting on a 2-hour delay. Any assignments should be posted by 10 AM & students may come to school sites or contact teachers with questions from 10 AM to 12 PM. Lunches at each school site will be available from 11:30-1:00 PM. Parents, please contact the school by 10 AM if you would like to request a meal. Resources on Brain Freeze can be found on the county website and Facebook page. The status on all afterschool activities will be announced later today.

Elementary grade students should have brought home order forms from Portland Coffee as a PTO fundraiser on November 21st, Thursday, the last day we attended school (please check your child’s backpack!). This is a super way to support a local business, support PTO, and check off a few Christmas gifts all at the same time! It’s a WIN, WIN, WIN! Orders and money are due by Tuesday, Dec 3!! PLEASE PUT YOUR STUDENT’S NAME ON THE ORDER FORM before returning it. As always, thank you for your support.
Attention TAEP Middle School Families: On Monday and Tuesday, December 2 & 3, 2024, Robin Hayes, Behavioral Therapeutic Specialist and Suicide Intervention Specialist from WVU Medicine Healthy Minds, will be visiting Terra Alta East Preston School along with other WVU counselors. They will be providing presentations to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Your child will be given the opportunity to participate in this hour-long program. This presentation will include the Mindwise Innovations Signs of Suicide Curriculum. This curriculum is an evidence-based youth suicide prevention program that teaches middle school students how to identify warning signs of suicide and depression.
The event was originally scheduled for October and at that time, parents were sent home a letter with more details.
We want to invite everyone out to the Preston High Castle on Friday, Nov 29, 2024 for the annual Black and Silver Scrimmage. Doors will open at 5:00 pm.

Students, don't let the winter blues affect your physical wellness and mind. Each month, December through March, we will be posting a monthly wellness challenge for students, along with a QR code and link to verify your participation. All students who participate will be placed into a drawing to win prizes in January, February, March and April. Prizes will be related to physical fun and announced later.
