Today, Friday, January 12th is the end of the term 2 grading period; however, finalized grades will now be due Friday, January 19th with report cards sent home with students on Wednesday, January 24th.

Based on the trending weather this week and the weather prognosis next week, the scheduled two-hour delay on Friday, January 12th has been postponed and Friday will now be a full academic day. In addition, setup for the County Science Fair will be rescheduled from tonight to Thursday, January 11th from 4:00 to 6:30 PM. The County Science Fair will now take place during the academic day on Friday, January 12th, with public viewing of projects from 5-7 PM and awards beginning at 7:00 PM. The awards ceremony will be livestreamed. Finally, based on the missed academic time this week, we plan to extend the report card issuance date past January 22nd and will announce the extended date next week.

Setup for the County Science Fair that was scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled to tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10th from 4:00-6:30 PM at the Kingwood Community Building. The County Science Fair will now take place on Thursday, January 11th at the Kingwood Community Building with student presentations taking place during the academic day on Thursday. Public viewing of projects will take place from 5-7 PM on Thursday with an awards ceremony beginning at 7 PM. The awards ceremony is planned to be live streamed on the Preston County Schools website.

The Preston County School Board of Education recognized two Preston High School students today at the daytime board of education meeting for their outstanding accomplishments. Ariana Huffman, a senior at Preston High, was recently awarded a full-ride college scholarship from Quest Bridge National College Match. Huffman was recognized along with her Upward Bound mentor Landon Southerly, and two PHS administrators - Principal Todd Seymour and Assistant Principal Rebecca Herko. Huffman plans to attend Haverford College.
Also, recognized was PHS senior and student board of education representative Margot Cerbone for her recent acceptance to the prestigious Harvard University.

Tina Cool's forensics class at Preston High School uses fingerprint techniques to practice real-world skills. Deputy Lewis (whose position at Preston High School is levy funded) talked to the students about fingerprinting.
