On Monday, September 8th, 2025, the Preston County Board of Education is hosting a work session beginning at 4:30 PM for students, parents, staff and community members to discuss issues and concerns facing our schools, and how we can work together to improve our schools and district as a whole. Attendees will be permitted 3-5 minutes, depending on how many sign-in to speak at the work session. Be Kind To Humankind Week is an annual Worldwide celebration of kindness that is observed from August 25th to August 31st. This week is a time for us to reflect on what we can do to make this world and our communities a better place. The celebrations were started with the simple motive that we must do all that we can to make the lives of those around us happier. Students have been back to school, and staff has been back to work, which includes Sir Chester. Preston County School's unofficial mascot and therapy dog has been hard at it this week, working daily at PHS, but taking the time for other stops, such as this morning to greet students arrival at KES.

Substitute classes will be offered in September for anyone interested in becoming a Sub Cook, Aide, Custodian, and/or Teacher. You can apply online at prestoncountyschools.com, or to get more information, contact Kristin James at 304-329-0580 x.3238 for Teachers, or Autumn at x.3216 for Service. If interested in service, you can come in before the classes to get paperwork and information on background checks, to hopefully speed up the hiring process. All classes will be held at the BOE Office. We look forward to welcoming you to our team and family.

September Lunch and Breakfast Menus
All grade levels will have access to salad bar this year as additional items to go with their hot lunch - if staff shortage, or on early out days, additional item(s) may be given on main line, as schools may choose not to operate salad bar.
(Cook's choice days will be communicated via your school's Thrillshare via text message)
(In the event of a staff shortage, the menu can be substituted and will be communicated - on those days, it could either be Turkey Sandwich, PB&J (Soy Butter and Jelly for Allergies), Chips, Veggies with Ranch (or fruit and veggie juice box), Fruit (or craisins) and Milk)

Due to the abrupt change in schedule, but oh so thankful for our awesome cooks, there will be menu changes for this week due to our distribution and delivery schedules. Tomorrow, the 18th, will still be Pizza, and cooks will be providing the menus for principals to put out for 2 of the other days, with one other day this week being the scheduled boneless wings. Preston County Schools had another great staff opening session on Wednesday the 13th. No matter the challenges and obstacles, our staff are prepared to welcome back our students and give them our best each and every day. We'd like to thank our sponsors, because without them, we wouldn't be able to put on such a successful event and training. A special thank you to Karen Cagle, our guest speaker from the Center for Model Schools, Instruction and Leadership. Karen has been, and always will be a big part of our PCS family, and it's through the work with her and her group that has continued to move PCS forward and do what we do for our kids day in and out.
