Kingwood Elementary School

A required class for anyone interested in becoming a substitute cook for Preston County Schools is scheduled on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 at the Preston County BOE Boardroom at 8:00 AM. All potential applicants must be a high school graduate, pass the online cook exam given at the class, obtain a valid food handler's card, pass a background check, and will need to submit a bid for the position by visiting the Preston County Schools' website at https://prestonboe.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx. Bus 64-15, Robin Riffle in the Kingwood area will not be running on Friday, December 17, 2021. Students will not be marked absent.

Bus 71-16, Phillip Moreland, in the Kingwood area will not run tomorrow, December 16, 2021. Students will not be marked absent.

Come out and join us for Deck the Halls this Friday 6-8 p.m. We will have games, refreshments, crafts, and who knows, maybe even a visit from Old Saint Nick himself! Fun for whole family, so gather up them thar yung'ens and c'mon out!

We had a special visitor at KES this morning! Mr. Grinch himself spread some Christmas cheer and promoted healthy habits by handing out hand sanitizer to EVERY student! Special thanks to Kingwood Walmart for their generous donation to help keep our kiddos healthy!

This is our last FULL WEEK of school before Christmas Break! To celebrate, the KES Attendance Team is sponsoring a Holiday Spirit Week! Monday: Holiday Hat Day Tuesday: Twin Day Wednesday: Ugly Sweater Day Thursday: Favorite Winter Character Day (Dress as your favorite winter character--Frosty, Santa, Grinch, elves, reindeer, etc.) Friday: Flannel Day PRIZES will be given daily for being present at school!

Maintenance, mechanics, and all AM and PM custodians, including cook/custodians report on a regular schedule and may depart two hours early from their shifts. Hello KES families! Just a couple bits of information for everyone. Tomorrow is the last day of our Santa’s Workshop. If your child was absent or forgot their money on their day to shop, they will be able to shop tomorrow after all kindergarten classes have shopped. The volunteer forms that were sent to parents has a background check to be completed. You will need to take that form with $5.00 to the sheriff’s office to be completed. In September 2021 you received a printed copy of your child's WV General Summative Test Results and the SAT Test Results. The WVDE is providing an individual video score report for your student as part of a statewide pilot program. An email was send to your child's email address this afternoon (11/30/21) for you to access it and/or your personal email address if you have one on file. Please remember that morning drop off for KES occurs between 7:15 and 7:30AM on a regularly scheduled day. On a 2 hour delay schedule, KES drop off times are between 9:15 and 9:30 AM. We cannot safely take any children BEFORE these times as our staff's work day does not begin until 7:15 AM (9:15AM on a 2 hour delay). Some outside greeting spots and classrooms are empty prior to these times. In addition, please remember that KES dismissal begins at 2:20PM DAILY. Students CANNOT be signed out after 1:45PM. After 1:45PM, parents must follow regular dismissal procedures.
