We'll announce our middle school students of the month tomorrow.

Tomorrow, students in grades 5 and 8 will take the science portion of the West Virginia General Summative Assessment (GSA). Please make sure that your kids get a good night's sleep, have a good breakfast, and are here on time. Testing begins at 8:00 and by state rule, anyone who arrives late to school will be unable to test that day and will have to take a makeup test. Also, don't forget to make sure your child's laptop is fully charged for school. Also, students must complete any and all GSA makeup tests prior to attending a scheduled field trip. Therefore, attendance on the regularly-scheduled GSA exam days this week is crucial. A limited number of makeup test opportunities are available before field trips begin in earnest next week. We're so proud of the work and effort our kids are giving this week! They rocked the English/language arts test today!

In honor of School Nurses' Day, we want to thank our special needs student nurse Heather Reckart!

Save the Date: May 24th and 25th will be field day here at Bruceton School. Parents are welcome to join their children to take part in the games and activities this year. To help accommodate everyone, PK-2 will have field day on May 24th and grades 3-8 on May 25th. More details will be forthcoming.

We love our community! Thank you for making this week's staff appreciation so special! Today's lunch was donated by Jason Jenkins and Smokin' Country!

All 8th grade students are bringing home tickets for their registered guests for this Friday's 8th Grade Celebration. Please ask your student about the tickets. The event is being held this Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Bruceton School's gym.

This week is state testing for grades 3-8. Students will take the writing test on Monday, Math on Tuesday, English on Wednesday, and grades 5 and 8 will take Science on Thursday. Here are some important reminders:
- Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before
- Make sure they eat breakfast whether it's at home or at school
- Testing starts each day at 8:00
- Make sure your child is on time for school. According to state rules, once the testing for the day has started, kids who arrive late are not allowed to join in that day's session and must take a makeup test
- Make sure your child's laptop is fully charged each day
- Make sure your child brings a book to read for when they finish testing
We understand that state testing can be a stressful time for kids and parents. We want our kids to approach the test with a positive attitude and try their absolute best to show what they've learned.
However, state testing is one snapshot in time of a child's progress and sometimes it may not show all the important and necessary skills for life that your child is also mastering.

From Bruceton Youth League Football: Flag football will be hosted tomorrow (Sunday) at the football field beginning at 1:30. Early signups for fall football and cheer will also be Sunday at the field from 1:30 - 6pm. For more information, please call (304) 698-3653.
