Students in grades 3-8 will take the West Virginia General Summative Assessment next week, May 6th through May 10th. It is very important that students are here in school these days for the exams. As in the past, students must have completed all their GSA component exams before being permitted to attend any field trips.

Our elementary and middle school student councils spent time after school today rebuilding our gardening beds, cleaning up the walking trail and basketball court, and more! The last day for Bruceton After-School Explorers in grades 3-5 is Thursday, May 2nd. The last day for Bruceton After-School Explorers students in grades K-2 is Thursday, May 9th.

You can still register your child for next year's pre-K here at Bruceton. Just stop by the main office to pick up an enrollment packet or call 304-379-2593 for more information.

PCS students in grades 3 - 8 will participate in state testing May 6 & 8; grades 5 & 8 only will also take a science test on May 10. Make up tests will be May 7, 9, & the week of May 13th.

It was a great day for Bruceton at the Preston County Track Championship on Monday. Josie Higginbottom is the County Champion in Shot Put and Discus. She also broke her own school records in both. Christian Humberson set the school record for both the 100 meters and the 100 meter hurdles. Tyler Parks was the 6th grade High Point scorer of the meet. Levi Beeghly placed 2nd in the boys Shot Put 3rd Place scorers: Callen Knox- Discus, Tyler Parks 1600 meters, Christian Humberson 100 Hurdles and 200 Hurdles, Lane Clark 400 meters, Girls 4x100 meters (Miranda Poe, London Casteel, Alissa McMahon, Eileen Parks), Boys 4x100 (Shawn Lyons, Canaan Edin, Levi Bryner, Noah Belanger) 4th Place scorers: Christian Humberson 100 meters, Eileen Parks 800 meters, Lane Clark 800 meters, Christian Humberson High Jump, Girls 4x400 meters (Miranda Poe, Kelsey Jenkins, London Casteel, Eileen Parks). 5th place scorers: Miranda Poe 400 meters, Paxton Berger 200 Hurdles, Tyler Parks 800 meters, Bryan Zeigler 400 meters, Callen Knox Shot Put. 6th Place scorers: Bryan Zeigler Discus, Tyler Parks 400 meters, Lane Clark High Jump, Paisley Schnopp Discus. 7th Place scorers: Noah Belanger 200 meters, Paxton Berger 800 meters, Colt Spiker 1600 meters, Colt Young Shot Put

Brittany Foley Thomas Memorial - 5th Grade Track & Field Challenge Preston County Schools will be hosting the Brittany Foley Thomas - 5th Grade Track & Field Challenge on Monday, May 13, 2024. The meet will be held at the Dr. John Trenton Track & Field Facility at Preston High School. Below is the schedule of events. 9:00 a.m. - Long Jump and Softball Throw 9:30 a.m. - 100 Meter Dash 10:00 a.m. - 400 Meter Dash 10:30 a.m. - 50 Meter Dash 11:00 a.m. - 200 Meter Dash 11:30 a.m. - Lunch 12:00 p.m. - Cross Country Run 12:45 p.m. - 4 x 100 1:15 p.m. - Depart for home NOTE: Times are approximate. Today, Monday, April 29th, bus 129 Casey Feather, Bruceton and PHS will be delivered approximately 35 minutes late today and be on bus 9. Parents are welcome to pick up PHS students at Bruceton School at 4 pm.

Preston County Students in grades 3 - 8 will participate in state testing May 6, 8, and 10, 2024. Parents please limit appointments and absences if at all possible. State testing is required for all students in grades 3 - 8. Thank you for your cooperation.

Ms. Moss' 6th graders are learning about different governments using straws. Each group received different rules based on their government type and had to build their tower based on the rules that their government type follows. #SchoolOfChampions #GoodThingsHappenHere

Next week, Little Learners will be moved from Thursday, May 2nd to Tuesday, April 30th.

Lunch menu for Monday: country fried steak with gravy, baked potatoes, green beans, fruit, and milk.

Mrs. McKeever’s Science 8 classes are covering various life sciences. Today, they used either a clothespin, tweezers, a binder clip, or a fork to represent different beak types. Using those beaks, they had to eat as much “food” as they could within a minute. The objective of this lab is to show that animals, who are better adapted to their environment and available food, will survive and pass on their traits to the next generation. #SchoolOfChampions #GoodThingsHappenHere

In 4th grade, we teach how to put up and take down the American flag. Mrs. Vrabel’s 4th grade class was so excited to be the first class to include our new Bruceton School flag.
