An informational meeting for any current 5th, 6th, and 7th grade student interested in playing Squires football will be held on Thursday, May 18th at the Central Preston Middle School at 6:00 PM.
Attention all 8th grade parents: The 8th grade students have been working on their career portfolios in Schoology. Please help them finish up these portfolios by uploading files and pictures that they still need. They will present their portfolio during an interview with community volunteers at the school. The career portfolios need completed by May 16th and the interviews will be on Thursday, May 18th. The students will need to dress business casual for the interview. This interview consists of them presenting their career portfolio and being asked questions about their goals in life. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Durst at the school. Thank you!
Family Night at the Scholastic Book Fair will now be held Thursday, May 4 from 5:00-7:00.
The following is an update on after-school and other extracurricular activities. Little Learners is cancelled at all locations, there will be no athletic practices at Preston High School and the status of the girls' lacrosse game will be communicated by the coaching staff, at Central Preston track practice is cancelled and pitchers and catchers for the softball team will practice in the Gym from 4:30 - 5:30 PM, at Terra Alta / East Preston there will be no athletic practices, but the Book to Movie event will proceed at 5:30 PM in the gym, at Bruceton the track team will practice at the school from 4-5 PM and the status of softball practice will be communicated by the coaching staff, at West there will be no track practice and the softball team will practice in the gym at 5 PM, finally at Aurora there will be no practice sessions or events at the school.
Preston County Schools will be closed Wednesday, May 3rd & today will be a “Brain Freeze” Day. Students do not report; however, staff reports on a 2-hour delay. Bus drivers should contact the bus garage for any requirements. Sub personnel is not to report unless they are specifically directed to do so. All schools will be open from 10 AM to 12 PM for students who need help & lunches will be served from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Administrative sessions with Karen Cagle, scheduled school data meetings, & the CTE Craft Committee Meeting will proceed as scheduled. The status on other extracurricular activities will be announced later today.

May Days to Remember
Attention 8th grade parents: Your student discussed yesterday in class the transition into high school, career portfolios, and high school scheduling for their sophomore year. We completed a PEP (Personalized Education Plan) with each student that has their freshmen classes that they have already signed up for and then they need to sign up for their sophomore classes. This form will continue with them throughout high school. Please review the PEP form with your child, sign and return it to Mrs. Durst by Thursday May 11th.
There will not be robotics this evening.

Attention 8th grade parents: All 8th grade students will be attending the Eighth Grade Orientation at Preston High School on Friday morning, May 12, 2023. The bus will leave the school at 8:00 am and will return at approximately 11:30 am on the same day. A permission slip was sent home with your student. Students riding Scott McCade's Bus 16 will be late dropping students off at home. The bus broke down during his run, so they had to the Aurora School to pick up the spare bus. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
