Students, don't let the winter blues affect your physical wellness and mind. Each month, December through March, we will be posting a monthly wellness challenge for students, along with a QR code and link to verify your participation. All students who participate will be placed into a drawing to win prizes in January, February, March and April. Prizes will be related to physical fun and announced later. Good luck and let's keep moving kids.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Robin Hayes, Behavioral Therapeutic Specialist and Suicide Intervention Specialist from WVU Medicine Healthy Minds, will be visiting Aurora School along with other WVU counselors. They will be providing presentations to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Your child will be given the opportunity to participate in this hour-long program. This presentation will include the Mindwise Innovations Signs of Suicide Curriculum. This curriculum is an evidence-based youth suicide prevention program that teaches middle school students how to identify warning signs of suicide and depression.
This presentation was originally supposed to occur in October but had to be rescheduled. We will also have Sir Chester, the therapy dog that is currently at Preston High School, visit our students on this date.
Although not in school today due to the inclement weather, Preston County Schools, our staff and students, are always thankful for the amazing substitute teachers that have and continue to dedicate themselves to our students' educations. Thanks for being such a valued part of our team.
Preston County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, November 22nd. Maintenance, Mechanics, and 240+ custodians report on schedule. All additional 240-day+ employees may report on a 2-hour delay. All other employees and students do not report and all scheduled extra-curricular activities are postponed.
Aurora students did a great job with their Science and Social Studies Fair projects. Congratulations and good luck to everyone moving on to the county competition. A huge thank you to all the community members who came out to judge projects today. A special shout out to Mrs. Cline for coordinating the fair.

Calendar updated and updated online to include 2, two-hour early outs on February 7th and May 9th as teacher work time towards progress reports and grading. As always, if we have more inclement weather days off, delays, or early-outs, this is always subject to change and will be communicated with advanced notice.
Preston County Educators Awarded Mini-Grants from Your Community Foundation (YCF)
18 educators from across Preston County received mini-grants during an awards ceremony at the Bridgeport Conference Center on the evening of Monday, November 18th from the Your Community Foundation (YCF). These dedicated educators have been awarded $750 each to be used during the 2024-2025 academic year.

It's getting to be that time of year again. The WVDE affords us the opportunity, due to our extended length days at certain schools, to use that time to be able to have alterative learning days in the event of inclement weather. In Preston County, we call those Brain Freeze Days. Below, you will find the information you will need in the event one of these days are called. Any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher or building principal.
Plan accordingly and come out and support your 2024-2025 Lady Knights Basketball Team whether in county or on the road. Gonna be a great season. Good luck ladies. Time to get to work!
All Preston County 7th and 11th grade parents. There will be an informational meeting for all interested in being on next year's Buckwheat Court on December 2nd and 3rd at the KVFD Community Building at 6:30. Menu Change:
Due to the anticipated weather forecast, the Thanksgiving School Meal originally on the menu for this Thursday the 21st, will now be served on Wednesday the 20th just in case there's any kind of schedule change. We want to ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving Meal prior to break.
Reminder tonight is the middle school Winter Wonderland Dance from 5:00-7:00. Admission is $5 per student. Students must be signed in and out by a parent/guardian.
