When tragedy strikes, our community always comes together. We would like to thank Lexie Goodwin and the team at Passages Therapy & Counseling for volunteering their time and being available to students yesterday at Preston High School. It was a welcoming gesture and very beneficial to our students who wanted to talk and grieve. Thank you Passages.

What could possibly make our holiday lunches for the kids even better? How about the PTA at Terra Alta East Preston "Eastering" up the tables today to compliment the great lunch fixed by our hard-working school cooks. All students this week who ate free hot lunch in the county, were treated one day to a holiday meal consisting of ham, sides and a cook's choice dessert. Yum. Happy Easter P-County!!!

Last night, the Preston County Reading Council presented multiple students from across the county and grade-levels with the Literary Award, in honor of Mary Agnes Borgman. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category were also recognized. Some additional excitement this year came during the First and Second Grade Prose Category, as County Winner, 1st Grader and KES Student, Dylan Lipscomb, was also recognized as coming in 2nd place in the State-Level Competition. PCS is proud of this outstanding accomplishment from Dylan, as well as all of our school participants and winners at the county level. Writing is such an important and foundational skill for our students, and we couldn't be more proud of each of these who have gone above and beyond. Keep being creative kids.

No fooling around today, at least when it comes to recognizing our Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday of April. Today and everyday, we honor paraprofessional educators, who may also be known as paras, instructional assistants, or teacher aides. Paraprofessionals perform a variety of teaching-related jobs and often assist teachers in classrooms.

Paras may work with students on supplemental enrichment activities, either in small groups or one-on-one. They may also help students complete assignments or practice reading. Paraprofessionals often work with students with special education needs and a variety of disabilities. They may also supervise students outside of classrooms and help teachers with clerical work.

Paraprofessionals work tirelessly each day to support students & teachers, so today we honor them for their service.

Preston County FFA/PHS Students had a very busy week last week!

In addition to the Ham, Bacon, & Egg show on Saturday, which again was a great success, we also had students competing in the West Virginia Career Development Events at WVU.
Final results were released, and these results are our rankings for the whole state of WV. Each contest had 15-20 teams from across the state and over 60 students individually competing in each one. Our students did so well and make our chapter proud!!

This morning at Preston High School, Slaton Manko, in front of his family, friends, coaches, and teammates, officially committed to continuing his football journey as a West Liberty University Hilltopper. He will leave the halls, fields, and courts of PHS as one of the most-decorated athletes in the school's history, and he'll represent those he's in company with well. Ten Preston High School students were recognized today with the Jerry Seinfeld Prize, an award recognizing students for their comedic personalities and positive impact on peers and faculty. Created and provided with generosity year after year by community member Deb Miller, the award is not about being a class clown, but rather recognizing someone who is positive, has a good sense of humor, and uses humor to brighten the days of those around them.
These students continue to give people a reason to laugh, and always seem to be putting smiles on the faces of others. Today, their ability to brighten peoples' days was recognized.

The winning students of the 2026 Preston High School Jerry Seinfeld Award include:
