PCS and PHS are proud of the 'above and beyond' efforts of these art students who chose to honor man's bestie and the school's therapy dog, Sir Chester, with quite the flattering mural. Thanks so much to Malachi Cupp, Tameron Uphole, Donaida Tasker, and Annie (Anastasia) Moats. Great work! 🐾

Today was an enjoyable day of competition for our 5th graders who participated in the Brittany Foley Thomas Memorial 5th Grade Track & Field Challenge. Bruceton took home first in both the girls and boys team standings, and the event saw some previous event records shattered. Congrats to all of our winners and participants, continued thanks for the continued support of this event, and thanks to Paul Martin and all of his hard-working volunteers and staff to make today such a success for our students. When asked, many 5th graders allude to this being a highlight of their 5th grade year.

At this time, phone and internet service are down at all district schools and the central office. This issue is suspected to be at WVNet and has been reported to technology officials with the WV Department of Education and our internet provider (Prodigi). We do not yet have an estimated time for restoration of service but are working with the WVDE to expedite this as soon as possible. Updates will be provided once service has been restored. Thank you for your patience.

Today, we recognize and celebrate National Speech-Language Pathologist Day and extend our sincere appreciation to the dedicated SLPs who support students across PCS.
Speech-Language Pathologists play a vital role in helping students develop the communication skills they need to succeed—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Through assessment, targeted intervention, and collaboration with families and school teams, SLPs support students in building skills in speech, language, literacy, social communication, and more.

🚨 Community Notification: Training Drill at Preston High School 🚨
Preston County Schools would like to inform our students, families, and community that a K-9 training drill is currently taking place, having began at 9:00 a.m. at Preston High School. Students have either been placed on a hold and/or evacuated from the building while this drill is being conducted and K-9s and Law Enforcement sweep the building.
This exercise is only a drill and is part of our ongoing efforts to promote a safe and secure learning environment for all.
The purpose of this training is to:
- Keep our K-9 units active, prepared, and highly trained
- Reinforce to students the importance of school safety policies
- Encourage compliance with rules regarding prohibited substances
- Provide valuable practice for students and staff in evacuation and lockdown/hold procedures
During the drill, there may be an increased presence of law enforcement and K-9 teams on campus. We want to assure families that this is a routine, proactive training exercise designed to enhance preparedness—not a response to any specific threat.
We appreciate the continued support of our families and community as we work together to maintain a safe and respectful school environment for everyone.
