Preston County Schools will be closed tomrrow, Monday, January 26th. Students do not report and & extra-curricular activities are cancelled. Maintenance, mechanics, and 240-day custodians report on a normal schedule. All other 240+ day employees report on a 2-hour delay.
Due to anticipated weather conditions on Monday, the scheduled Board of Education meeting at West Preston School on Monday, January 26th will be postponed and rescheduled to Wednesday, January 28th at 6 PM at the West Preston School Band Room.
West Lunch - Tomorrow's lunch will be Chicken Drummy, green beans, and Mac&cheese.
It appears we're currently having and will continue to have the Preston County Winter we've all become accustomed to, but haven't seen in the past few years. The state allocates us, based off additional learning time in our buildings each day, 5 traditional snow days, where students and staff under 240 day contracts do not report, and allows 5 non-traditional learning days (Brain Freeze) where students work from home and staff reports. If we exhaust all these days, make-up days, either via from Spring Break, or at the end of the school year, will need to be used to meet the state requirements. If we go over those allocated days, the calendar will be adjusted and you will be informed of the dates of those make-up days.

Today is the 50th PCS Math Field Day. Students from across the county showed up and showed off their math knowledge and skills. Tomorrow, 1/20, is make up picture day. If your child needs to take their fall photo or a retake, they will be given the opportunity tomorrow morning.

Preston County Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 20th & it will be a “Brain Freeze” Day. Students do not report. Maintenance, mechanics, & custodians report on a regular schedule, & all other staff reports on a 2-hour delay.. All schools will be open from 10 AM- 12 PM for students who need help & lunches will be served from 11AM -12 PM.. Extracurricular activities may proceed, but Math Field Day will be moved to Wednesday.
Lunch update for this week! Wednesday's lunch of turkey and cheese sandwich will be on Friday. Friday's lunch, which will now be a chili cup with grilled cheese will be served on Wednesday.
Just a reminder that there is No School and BOE Offices will be closed on Monday, January 19th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students will return to school on Tuesday the 20th, with some returning to participate in Math Field Day.
WVU's Chapter of Society of Women Engineers invites all elementary school girls, K-5, for a day of STEM-focused education and fun on Saturday, February 28th.
