No fooling around today, at least when it comes to recognizing our Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday of April. Today and everyday, we honor paraprofessional educators, who may also be known as paras, instructional assistants, or teacher aides. Paraprofessionals perform a variety of teaching-related jobs and often assist teachers in classrooms.
Paras may work with students on supplemental enrichment activities, either in small groups or one-on-one. They may also help students complete assignments or practice reading. Paraprofessionals often work with students with special education needs and a variety of disabilities. They may also supervise students outside of classrooms and help teachers with clerical work.
Paraprofessionals work tirelessly each day to support students & teachers, so today we honor them for their service.

Each spring, bands from across West Virginia participate in Regional Band Festivals, where middle and high school concert bands perform for a panel of judges. Groups present two musical selections and receive valuable feedback along with an optional numerical rating.
This year, the West Preston Middle School Band, under the direction of Ms. Lauren Sperry, represented our school at the Region 10 Band Festival in Bridgeport. Despite being a smaller ensemble, the band delivered a strong and expressive performance.
The group earned an overall rating of II from the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC). This rating signifies a performance of distinctive quality, with only minor areas for improvement.
Congratulations to Ms. Sperry and all members of the West Preston Middle School Band for their hard work and achievement!

PCS Quarterly Highlights - Beat of Excellence - Winter/Early Spring Digital Edition (https://5il.co/3u0rn)
Although our students' and schools' accomplishments are highlighted regularly through Facebook(s) and our PCS Website(s), PCS will now be compiling a highlight of events of an extended period, publishing quarterly. In previous years and editions, our print magazine was funded through additional federal funds we no longer receive. Moving forward, we will print one magazine each year through parent engagement funding, typically at the start of the year, containing important information, documents, and a calendar, but then will quarterly post a "Beat of Excellence Highlight" online.
