There has been an uptick this past year across the state and county of drivers attempting to, or passing stopped school buses. This is a major safety concern for the students of Preston County. The link below is a video and news story that broke last spring when a student was nearly hit in Kanawha County, WV. We urge all residents of Preston County to look out for and support our students and bus drivers by following the law. Always stop for school buses. It is not just the law - it is a matter of life and safety. Thank you.

On Sept. 11, 2001, America was forever changed. It has been 24 years since the attacks, but that tragic day, which served as a true test of the American spirit, will be remembered always. So on this day, we observe Patriot Day and all that it represents—we honor the value of life, those we loved and lost, our country’s resilience, and the strength of the American spirit. Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11. When Americans lend a hand to one another, nothing is impossible. We’re not about what happened on 9/11. We’re about what happened on 9/12.

"There are people in this country who work hard every day. Not for fame or fortune do they strive, but the fruits of their labor are worth more than their pay. You can see them every morning in the factories and the fields, in the city streets and the quiet country towns, working together like spokes inside a wheel. They keep this country turning around." - Alabama

Be Kind To Humankind Week is an annual Worldwide celebration of kindness that is observed from August 25th to August 31st. This week is a time for us to reflect on what we can do to make this world and our communities a better place. The celebrations were started with the simple motive that we must do all that we can to make the lives of those around us happier. You don’t have to do anything elaborate to be kind — all it takes is a kind word or helping a friend. Set aside time every day to do something nice for others.
