Congrats to our XC Teams. Preston showed up today to run at the State Championships at Cabell Midland. The girls ended up placing 3rd in the state for AAAA and the boys got 5th with a lot of amazing times. So proud of all of them and their hard work this season! Thank you to the great coaches that push them, and all the time you all put in to help them succeed! 💚🖤

PHS is getting ready to celebrate Veteran's Day! We invite veterans join us for breakfast and attend the ceremony.
PHS students were issued report cards yesterday. Please take a minute to review their progress with them. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for tomorrow, October 28, from 4-6pm. Additionally, we offer tutoring through Knights Academy Monday through Thursday after school. Students only need a signed enrollment form to stay, and they may ride the evening shuttle buses to their home areas. The enrollment forms are available in the main office and the guidance office.
iXL weekly tidbit!
We have a big homecoming week coming up! Our classes will be competing to see which class earns the Spirit Sword while students and staff also dress up daily to show their school spirit. One of the competitions is a donation drive for the local animal shelter. The homecoming court will be recognized at the football game on Friday night, and the week will come to a close with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday evening! We are looking forward to a great week!

WE ARE… PRESTON COUNTY SCHOOLS!
Students from the WVU ObGyn Interest Group came to PHS on Oct 18th to collaborate on the pregnancy project. Students in anatomy class are following pregnancy throughout the school year and the 2nd year medical students from WVU presented information to the students acting as their doctor for the first visit for a pregnancy checkup. Information on what to expect at doctor visits, things to do and things to avoid during pregnancy, and other information was shared. The WVU students will return for 2nd and 3rd trimester "check-up" visits later this year.
A very special thank you goes out to Robert Sypolt and Linda & Bernie Coyle who spent two days presenting information about the American Chestnut to biology students at PHS on October 6-7. The presentations took place at the Waddell Orchard located on the PHS campus. There aren't many other campuses across the state that have these kinds of opportunities right in their own backyard. PCS and PHS appreciate all of our community partnerships and learning opportunities for our students.
Just a reminder that there is No School for students this Friday, October 23rd, while staff reports for a professional learning day.
On Thursday, students will have the opportunity to tour, meet and talk to the operators of some of the equipment used by the WV National Guard and meet and talk to a search and extraction team.
The Integrated Community Engagement Collaborative (ICEC) Survey is a data-collection tool used by ICEC, a substance use prevention initiative in rural communities, to gather information from students in grades 7-12. This annual, anonymous survey collects data to help local coalitions understand protective and risk factors for youth substance use and to guide the development of locally tailored prevention strategies. PHS students will take this survey in the coming weeks. If you wish to opt out, you must do so by October 26. Mrs. Hardy’s Pottery classes have been cooking up some creativity with their Pop Art Donuts! 🍩✨
Students explored the exciting and colorful Pop Art movement, learning about famous artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Inspired by the bold colors, playful designs, and everyday objects featured in Pop Art, students transformed ordinary donuts into extraordinary works of ceramic art! 🎨
From bright colors and crazy sprinkles to unique patterns and creative toppings, each donut showcases our students' imagination and artistic talent!
