Preston County Schools is proud to announce its selection as a recipient of the West Virginia First Foundation’s (WVFF) Inaugural Opportunity Grant. The grant, totaling $93,212.58, will be used to support the hiring of an additional AEP instructor for the 2025-26 school year, partial salary for the SRO, and other instructional supplies for the AEP program. This project aligns with Preston County School’s mission to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every student can achieve academic success and personal growth. We are committed to empowering students to overcome challenges, foster resilience, and develop essential life skills that will help them thrive both academically and socially. By partnering with families and the community, we strive to inspire a love for learning and promote the well-being of each individual, preparing them for a positive and successful future." “We are deeply grateful to the West Virginia First Foundation for believing in our vision and supporting our work,” said Dani Kelley, Extended Learning Facilitator for Preston County Schools. “This grant allows us to expand our current AEP program and enhance the well-being of our students.” Together, we are making strides toward a healthier and more hopeful West Virginia.”
At this time, internet and phone services are down at all district schools and central office. Frontier has advised that this is a wide-spread issue in WV and another state. We have not been provided with an eta on a restoration of service. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Schools: Aurora, Bruceton, Fellowsville, Kingwood Elementary, Preston High (to include the football field), Rowlesburg, South Preston, Terra Alta/East Preston, Central Preston Middle and West Preston
The service you are bidding will be on an as-needed basis, per mowing request. Mowing will be done only after communication with the Preston County Schools Maintenance Supervisor, Matt Murray, or his designee.

Please submit bids for the individual locations per mowing, trimming and weed eating, for a contact period of one year along with a valid WV Business License and proof of liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 with your bid to Preston County Schools, 731 Preston Drive, Kingwood, WV 26537. All work shall be in accordance with instructions provided by the Preston County Schools Maintenance Department (304-329-0580, ext. 3231).
The Preston County Board of Education reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive any informality in the bidding.

Today, over 80 of PHS’s Class of 2025 took part in college signing day. PHS Grads will be attending more than 20 Universities, Colleges, or Technical Schools this fall. PCS is proud of the Class of 2025 and these students for choosing to pursue additional education and technical trainings. Special thanks to the PHS Guidance Office and Admin Team for such a great event to honor and recognize our upcoming grads.

Today, during Military Signing Week 2025, 11 of our 2025 PHS Grads (10 in attendance), were honored and recognized for their commitment to join the United States Armed Forces. Recruiters from each branch were on-hand to recognize these awesome individuals who have answered their nation's call, and participated in a ceremonial signing. Frank Vitale, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, was the events keynote for the ceremony. PCS is proud of each of these students and wish them the best on their upcoming journey.
On the evening of Monday, April 7th, Central Preston welcomed their local critical workers for an appreciation dinner consisting of soups, salads, breads and desserts. The evening was spearheaded by Mr. Jamie Knotts, teacher at CPMS, who made some of the food with his class. Many CPMS staff participated by making the delicious soups, desserts, and volunteering to serve during the evening's event. Through their donations of the meal, time and work, the CPMS staff served over 100 critical workers and their families. CPMS is Preston Proud and wanted to show their appreciation to these amazing workers who kept the community safe and comfortable throughout the winter months and always.

April is the Month of the Military Child. The month highlights continuing efforts to create a positive school climate and culture that meet the unique needs of military-connected children and families. In addition to hosting special activities throughout the month, many schools will participate in national “Purple Up Day” on April 11, 2025, with students, faculty and staff wearing purple as a show of support for military children.
