The United States Constitution, America’s most important document, stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties, freedoms and inalienable rights. And, Constitution Week is celebrated annually during the week of September 17-23 to commemorate its history, importance, and bring attention to how it serves still today.
This celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Constitution Day and Citizenship Day on September 17 is the central event, recognizing the signing of the Constitution in 1787 and honoring new and naturalized citizens.

There has been an uptick this past year across the state and county of drivers attempting to, or passing stopped school buses. This is a major safety concern for the students of Preston County. The link below is a video and news story that broke last spring when a student was nearly hit in Kanawha County, WV. We urge all residents of Preston County to look out for and support our students and bus drivers by following the law. Always stop for school buses. It is not just the law - it is a matter of life and safety. Thank you.

On Sept. 11, 2001, America was forever changed. It has been 24 years since the attacks, but that tragic day, which served as a true test of the American spirit, will be remembered always. So on this day, we observe Patriot Day and all that it represents—we honor the value of life, those we loved and lost, our country’s resilience, and the strength of the American spirit. Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11. When Americans lend a hand to one another, nothing is impossible. We’re not about what happened on 9/11. We’re about what happened on 9/12.

Students will be bringing home forms for Christmas assistance. If you need more information, please call the school and ask for Ms. Shaffer.
