Preston County Schools is now accepting applications for 2026-2027 Pre-K and Kindergarten programs.
Pre-K Registration will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Aurora, Bruceton, Kingwood Elementary, South Preston, Terra Alta/East Preston, and West Preston Schools.
Kindergarten registration will be held Friday, January 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Aurora, Bruceton, Kingwood Elementary, South Preston, Terra Alta/East Preston, and West Preston Schools.
Applications can be found on the Preston County Schools website and dropped off at one of the schools listed above. If you need a paper copy, it is available at the schools to pick up, complete and return to the school. The following information will need to be provided:
• completed preschool application
• copy of the child’s birth certificate from the Office of Vital Statistics
• immunization records
• completed well-child visit form
• dental check form
To register for PreK you need to be 4 years old by June 30. (No Exceptions)
To register for kindergarten you need to be 5 years old by June 30.
If you are registering a Kindergarten student and they are already enrolled in a Preston County PreK then you DO NOT have to register them for kindergarten. The ONLY EXCEPTION is if you are transferring.

Preston County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for tomorrow, Thursday, December 11th. Maintenance, mechanics, & custodians report on a regular schedule, & all other students & staff will report on a 2-hour delay.
Change in Meeting - Buckwheat Court 2026 Info - This evening's meeting for those interested in the BWF Court (final meeting if you haven't attended another), Wednesday, December 10th, will now be moved to Monday, December 15th due to incoming inclement weather. Monday's meeting will still be at the KVFD Community building at 6:00 pm. The people interested in being selected for Children's court will meet at 6:00pm. Junior princess interested parties will meet at 6:30pm.

Inclement Weather Reminder: The PCS Superintendent and the Director of Transportation are in constant communication with the National Weather Service during periods of, and/or when it’s calling for inclement weather. Decisions are made with student and transportation safety in mind. Updates are provided via Thrillshare, through messaging/calls, and Facebook. For reminders on Brain Freeze day protocols, those can be found on the scroller on the PCS Website. When possible, calls for delays or cancellations will be made the evening before. If not, by 4:30 AM the day of, but remember the weather can change quickly, so please be patient. Thank You.

With Tuesday's Snow Day, today is the 67th day of school in Preston County. Happy 6-7 Kids!!!
Final sign-ups for Kingwood Youth Basketball will be this Sunday, December 7th from 3-5 and Tuesday night, December 9th, from 6-8 at the Kingwood Civic Center.
Lunch menu adjustments - Due to no school today, tomorrow will now be General Tso Chicken instead of Meatball Sub, with Thursday and Friday's menus staying the same.

Today, we highlight the progress made in special education and encourage continued support for all students with disabilities. PCS has some wonderful special educators and aides who work with some incredible kiddos.
Preston County Schools are now closed for today, Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Students do not report and all extra-curricular activities are cancelled. Extended -day employees (240+) not already reporting are to report on a 2-hour delay and all other staff does not report.
Preston County Schools will be operating on a two-hour delay for tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2nd. Maintenance, mechanics, & custodians report on a regular schedule, & all other students & staff will report on a 2-hour delay. The PLC Meetings at Aurora & TAEP will be rescheduled, but the Bruceton ELA meetings will still occur on schedule.

Today, we honor the indispensable role of substitute teachers in our education system. PCS has some amazing substitutes, who step-up and fill-in, sometimes on short notice, and do so as if they were made to be the teachers in those very classrooms they care for in a teacher's absence. Today, and every day, we can't thank you enough for helping to ensure our students' educations continue and thrive. Thank you PCS subs!!!
Just a reminder that schools are closed all next week and the BOE offices are closed on the 27th and 28th. We want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. PCS is thankful for our staff, students and teachers.
