Reminder of upcoming Substitute Classes for Aide, Cook and Custodial Certifications - (Custodian and Cook was moved from 20th to the 19th)

It's that time of year, and with inclement weather a possibility in the near future, take the time to remind yourselves about our Brain Freeze Days and other protocols. When possible, calls for delays, cancellations, or non-traditional learning (Brain Freeze), will be made the night before, but if not, between 4:30-5:00AM the morning of.

2 Hour Delays - students and most staff report on a 2 hour delay, and breakfast will still be served.
3 Hour Delays - students and most staff report on a 3 hour delay, and breakfast WILL NOT be served. (Staff could be asked to report on 2 hour delay)
Cancellation - Students do not report, and most staff do not report

Just a friendly reminder to set any clocks that aren't automatic back 1 hour tonight before going to bed!

You're invited to our K-5 County Literacy Family Night. This free, family-friendly activity will be fun for students and parents, and a great opportunity to enrich their literacy engagement at home. Please RSVP by Monday, November 3rd (Link Below). Older siblings are welcome to attend and participate, but note that all activities are gauged for grades K-5. Hope to see you there.

With SNAP Benefits delays approaching, PCS, and their partners at Food for Preston, want to ensure our students don't go hungry. If in need, please reach out to these food pantries or Food for Preston directly, as well as your child's school as we're here to help. Our guidance offices and social workers can work directly with local orgs, Food for Preston, and our county nutrition director, to ensure our students have food during any uncertain times.

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, October 24th, there will be no school for students and staff reports for professional learning. No School for students tomorrow.

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, October 23rd, students will be bringing home their report cards/progress reports for the 1st Grading Period that ended on the 17th.

October 20-24, 2025 is National School Bus Safety Week. Keep bus stop safety at the top of your list this school year. School buses carry our most precious cargo—our children. Every stop is a chance to protect their journey. We thank our community members for following the law, our local law enforcement for monitoring and enforcing the laws, and our PCS Bus Drivers for ensuring our students' safety to and from our schools and events.

Early Dismissal Reminder - Tomorrow, Friday October 17th is a 2 hour early dismissal for students.

The West Virginia Advisory Council for the Education of Exceptional Children (WVACEEC) would like to hear from you.
The WVACEEC is a group of individuals from across the state that gather throughout the school year to listen to the concerns of parents, families, and community members regarding the education of exceptional students, and share those concerns with the WV Department of Education (WVDE), the WV State Board of Education (WVSBOE).

You’re invited to meet with us in person on Thursday October 23, 2025 at Phillip Barbour High School 99 Horseshoe Drive, Phillippi, WV, from 5:00-8:00 pm.
